Teaching Training 2023

The third Phase of Training for Prospective teachers began on June 27th of June and ended on August 09th. As prospective teachers, we are supposed to complete 30 lesson templates which for me is about two units including six chapters.

On the previous working day of training, we went to the schools and collected the portions to be taught and the timetable. With that, we have started preparing lesson templates, teaching aids, notes, etc...

I was asked to complete my training at Muslim Girls Higher Secondary School, Kaniyapuram.

Week 01: June 27, 2023 - June 30, 2023

Very very happy to join the school for training where I have studied from my HS to HSS. Met HM, Shajitha's teacher who taught me Malayalam during my school years. Hand over the letter from the principal to her and join for training. She asked me to meet Taresh Sir, Head of the English department, who taught me English during my school years and also was the teacher in charge of my 10th standard. Met Taresh sir and rejoiced over the happiness of meeting him again after 9 years. Collected the class timetable from him. I was told to teach in 9 B and 8 B. I was asked to complete Units 01 and 02 of 8B and Units 02 and 03 of 9B. After receiving the timetable, I just roamed over the school to recollect my good old school days. I am happy to meet my teachers and my school after many years. The anti-drug campaign was conducted in school by energetic students. Students have done many activities like Flash mobs, speeches, pledges, etc...

           

This is the picture showing the SPC meeting held at the school after the lunch break section. This shows that girls are paying more attention to being good citizens. I helped the students to prepare for the mono-act competition, where the students were ready to act in front of students which shows how much confidence in their ability. The most important thing which I observed was that the students were able to read and write in English, Thus the learning process was very easy and comfortable. Students were waiting for their intervals to play with their friends which shows that such a bonding is between all the students in the school. The games played by them show as many memories of our childhood that we will not get back. 

The school ended at 3: 10. And I went to my home with full satisfaction and memories.

 

Students are happy to be in the school that's because they have good teachers to teach them. One thing I realize is that there are many students who belong to poor financial families and they are treated in a good manner in the school. Students are provided with rich afternoon meals having all types of vegetables in the food.

Week 02: July 01, 2023 -July 07, 2023

School celebrated this week as reading week giving prime importance to reading. Many activities are conducted as part of reading week. Quizzes were conducted based on books. Newspapers were distributed among students as a part of encouraging the reading habits of students. A television channel organized a quiz program at school where the students got their opportunity to show their caliber and students were given prizes at the morning assembly which boosted all the other children's confidence.

Students were busy taking photos for their Identify card. The mindset of students has changed a lot. They were showing keen interest in studying English which was considered a boring subject for Malayalam medium students. Students had knowledge of current affairs.

SPC selection was taking place where the students showed their physical and mental power and they were enjoying their time. This shows that this school is giving all the time and investment to mold the girl child with knowledge and physical power to be strong in the competitive world. They had a skipping competition. The students participated house-wise. Four houses are there yellow, green, red and blue houses. Students played energetically to win for their representative houses. In this skipping competition, yellow House won, the student represented Yellow House had skipped 120 times within one minute which shows how much energy and passion they have.

Thus this week ends with full of satisfaction and memories.

Week 03: July 10, 2023 - July 14, 2023

Training teachers made students celebrate Doctor's Day by making them create Posters. Eid holidays were given to students for two days in between. I am grateful that I could complete all the lesson plans that I have planned till this week. I have completed the chapter " Tolstoy Farm" and shown many videos portraying the chivalric life of Gandhiji and also made students see many videos associated with his autobiography. Also made students collect quotes from Gandhiji as an associated work. Happy that many students had drawn pictures of Gandhiji and also they wrote quotes of him. 
Not many activities happened this week as it was a rainy week. 

Week 04: July 19, 2023 - July 22, 2023

The election for selecting house captains was conducted on July 20, 2023. Before the election, the Meet the Candidate campaign was conducted by the UP students on July 14, 2023, and HS students on July 19, 2023. A school assembly was there on July 19, 2023, after many days due to heavy rain. The thing which I observed is that the school shows the best to make assembly a knowledge one. I had classes on 8B and 9 B. Even though the rain was heavy, students were there in the class showing their attention. I have completed the lesson plans as prepared. My concerned optional teacher Dhanya Ma'am came for the observation. It boosted my confidence that I could make a class in front of her and she would teach what is wrong and what is right in my teaching process. Happy that I got positive feedback from my teacher. 

There was a quiz competition conducted during the first to 3rd period. It was based on  Vaikom Muhammad Basheer Day. Students were asked questions about Basheer and they showed their maximum hard work and participation to make the quiz a huge success. Seeing the students engaging in quizzes, and remembering the answers gave me joy and a lot of memories of our school days. 

I used to serve food for the students during the lunch break, serving food for students makes me happy and gives me my childhood school memories. Students were ready for the election to the house-wise captain selection. Four houses were there, a red house, a blue house, a greenhouse, and a yellow house. Meet the candidate who was there.  A quiz on general facts of Kerala was conducted. Students were much more cooperative.

Week 05: July 24, 2023 - July 29, 2023

Declaration of election results was made on July 24, 2023, during the school assembly by the Headmistress of the school. The chosen captain and Vice Captain for Yellow House, Blue House, Red House, and Green House were invited on stage. House Captains were selected from the 10th standard and Vice Captains were selected from the 7th standard.

A school assembly was done by the 10B students, they recited the prayer, pledge, quiz, thoughts, etc... HM shared her vision and thoughts.

Assisted students in monitoring the weather station. Students in charge noted the highest and lowest temperature, counted clouds, rainfall in meters, wind speed, directions, etc...

Week 06: July 31, 2023 - Aug 05, 2023

The activity-oriented week it was! 
Students were asked to do many activities like drawing, painting, writing, discourse construction, etc... Students were taught grammar, poetic devices, formats of dairy, letters, placards, posters, etc...

An English Fest was conducted by me for the students.

During this exam week, students were given tests on the portions learned on all these days. Students were made to attempt examinations, then evaluated their achievement, gave them remedial teaching, helped them simplify the difficult portions, rectified all their doubts, and helped them to get thorough with the portions learned.

Week 07: Aug 07, 2023 - Aug 09, 2023

As I had completed all my lesson plans by the 27 of July and I was asked to stay there till August 09, I took a Communicative English session for the students. Happy that I got a good appreciation for my orientation session and with that I could enhance the confidence of the students to speak up even though there are mistakes in between. I am very much grateful to the entire school, my dear teachers, students for being with me, boosting my energy, and confidence, motivating me, and enhancing my love for teaching.

Collected feedback from the students, and gave them sweets as a token of love. Bid farewell to the teacher's training. Bid bye to the school full of life and memories. Bid bye to the teachers.
